It's a real barber, in a real van. Half an hour, one person at a time, with the door shut. Nobody is watching, nobody is taking notes, and you don't have to explain why you came.

Barbers and hairdressers: give a shift

The van only runs when someone's behind the chair. Put your hand up for a morning, an afternoon, or a whole day. The Hub confirms with you before your first shift.

Six hours of appointments a day only happens if someone is behind the chair. One shift is roughly seven people who walk out feeling like themselves again.

Morning, afternoon or the full day?

Shifts start half an hour before the first appointment and finish half an hour after the last, so there's time to set up and pack down. Appointments themselves run 9:30am to 3:30pm.

Required checks

The Hub can only take volunteers who hold both. The card numbers are what get checked with the issuing body — a photo on its own isn't verification, so please put the numbers in.

Anything you upload is stored privately and seen only by Hub staff. It is never public, and you can ask the Hub to delete it at any time.
